Bobby Oergel & his wife Lisa own and manage the operation and their approach to driver development is focused and straightforward. It has also been very successful. Where many teams bring new drivers into their fold for immediate competition at a top level of the ladder system. Oergels' approach begins much earlier, taking full advantage of his knowledge of (and reputation in) the karting community. The teams slogan is “Karts to Cars” and they have provided an introduction to open wheel racing to dozens of young kart racers. In a sport where making the jump from 45hp 125cc shifterkart to a 170hp Zetec car or a 500hp Grand-Am GT, is a daunting experience requiring an entirely different set of skills, Oergel has become a valuable teacher.

The operation is based in Fresno, CA where PR1 occupies a 5000 square foot facility that houses stable of F2000 Zetec cars and Grand Am Rolex Sports Cars. When they hit the road, they do so in a manner of any top notch team. A 53’ transporter becomes their trackside headquarters, the classroom for the competitors who are part of the PR1 family. The drivers who buy into Oergel’s concept enjoy the benefits of a completely professional program, one that provides all the surroundings necessary for extreme driver development including computers, data acquisition and even a 1st class hospitality area for team & driver sponsors and friends.
