THE PROGRAM
Oergels' program is focused on providing young karters with the right training necessary to make the transition into formula cars, starting his pupils off in a 1600cc Formula Ford or F2000 Zetec -“Pacific” racecars. Consisting of private two-day test sessions, normally two per month, this training is targeted initially on the driver only, with an emphasis on teaching and honing the proper driver techniques. Once the appropriatedriver techniques have been achieved then Oergel focuses on teaching proper car set-up with the help of the teams Head Engineer Andy Carvey. With the use of on-board data acquisition systems Oergel and Carvey teach their drivers the importance of car set-up. Allowing his drivers to compare data with former drivers like “Jonathan Bomarito”, himself an Oergel protege who won the 2003 Formula Zetec Championship with PR1, is a huge benefit. Oergel provides an environment that is positive and exciting for his aspiring students, many times having his accomplished drivers that have moved into the upper echelons of the sport return to mentor and help.
Wheel-to-wheel competition is scheduled only when the necessary results are achieved.
